Sixth Graders Expand Horizons at Heifer Ranch

Sixth graders recently spent four days at Heifer Ranch in Perryville, AR. This trip is a powerful global education experience, sponsored by Heifer International, which exposes the students to the idea that one person can make a difference in ending hunger and poverty.

Students participate in the Global Gateway Challenge, which is a hands-on simulation to help the students find sustainable solutions to global hunger, poverty, and environmental degradation. During this experience, students experience and existence in which nothing - shelter, water, or cooking fuel, can be taken for granted. Students prepare a meal with limited resources and spend a night in the Global Village.

Experiencing a small taste of what life is like without basic necessities is a powerful experience for our students. Many report that their viewpoints and their lives are changed after their visit to the Heifer Ranch. To learn more about Heifer Ranch and Heifer International, click here
