What words best describe you?
How long have you been at New City School and what did you do before coming here?
I have been at New City for eight years; previously I was the Business Manager at Lindbergh Early Childhood Education for eight years.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I have four children: two NCS graduates - Ashlyn currently in 7th grade and Corbin in 9th grade in Lindbergh School District; two others still here at NCS - Adilyn in 1st grade and Gavin in 4th grade.
What do you like to do when you're not at New City?
Spending time with my wife, Kristy, and our children is my favorite thing to do, especially when on vacation- kayaking, hiking, skiing and boating. When I get the chance, I love playing poker and pool, or sitting around a bonfire and sipping suds.
What did six-year-old Shawn want to be when he grew up?
A dirt track motor cycle racer… my uncles were my idols at the time.
What is your ideal vacation?
Anywhere there’s water… on a kayak or in a boat, exploring, soaking up the rays… Lake Powell, Utah is my favorite place so far.
What is something that most people don't know about you?
I love meeting interesting people from other cultures and other walks of life, especially when I think to myself, “Wow, I wish I was that brave.”
What else do you want people to know?
I grew up in a small town, Keokuk, Iowa, and I always yearned for new experiences. I have now come to appreciate the peacefulness and simplicity that exists there.
