Head of School Search: May 2015 Update

May 7, 2015

Dear Parents and Friends,
I’m excited to announce that the search committee has narrowed the field of head of school candidates to three outstanding finalists. Each finalist will visit New City for a two-day marathon of meetings, receptions, etc., so that the candidate learns more about the New City community and we learn more about the candidate. We are working on a candidate profile for each finalist so you can learn more about him/her in advance, but we wanted to send you the meeting dates/times so you can block them on your calendar.
We’ve set aside two possible meeting times for the New City community to meet each candidate. You may attend as many of these sessions as you want; we hope that you will attend at least one for each candidate. Each session will be an informal reception, with time for you to meet and learn more about the candidate. All of the meetings will be at New City; we will confirm exact locations in the coming week.
Candidate 1
Tuesday, May 12 — 5:00pm – 6:00pm
Wednesday, May 13 — 8:00am - 9:00am
Candidate 2
Friday, May 15 — 8:00am - 9:00am
Friday, May 15 — 4:15pm - 5:15pm
Candidate 3
Thursday, May 21 — 5:15pm-6:15pm
Saturday, May 23 — 8:00am - 9:00am
As a reminder, the search consultants began with a field of 50+ interested and qualified candidates. They conducted initial interviews and narrowed the field to 11 candidates for the search committee to consider. The search committee conducted two rounds of interviews and logged many, many hours of thoughtful discussion to narrow our selection down to three finalists. We are excited about the diversity of the candidates’ experiences and personalities, and confident in their abilities and enthusiasm to lead New City into the future, beginning with the 2016-17 school year.
As always, please contact me if you have any questions (mlw@greensfelder.com).
