2018 Diversity Dinner and Dialogue with Humans of St. Louis

Lindy Drew, co-founder of Humans of St. Louis, speaks at the 2018 Diversity Dinner and Dialogue.

We were delighted to host Lindy Drew, photographer and co-founder of Humans of St. Louis (HOSTL), as the speaker for our 2018 Diversity Dinner and Dialogue. Lindy began HOSTL while pursuing her Masters of Social Work and Public Health from Washington University in St. Louis, with the hope that this platform would be able to share an intimate look into the lives and struggles of the people of St. Louis. Lindy spoke to New City faculty, staff, parents, and friends about how HOSTL began, her process of approaching people to share their stories, and her experiences throughout the project.

Following the talk, participants were asked to consider the ‘bubbles’ that they occupy, as well as share their own stories with those at their table using a selection of prompts borrowed from HOSTL’s interview process.
