Building a Prairie Dog Town with 2nd Grade

2nd Graders have been learning about the North American prairie biome, and recently completed a STEM challenge in which they were asked to use given materials to build a model of an underground tunnel for a prairie dog town.

 
3/4s Learn About Leading for Change

Our 3/4s were on a neighborhood walk yesterday when they noticed a Black Lives Matter sign in one yard, and stopped for a mini-lesson about what those signs mean and why people put them in their yards.

What does persuasive writing look like at New City School?

When faced with the possibility of no longer being able to walk to Forest Park, 1st Graders pulled together their knowledge of persuasive writing, change makers, and protests to speak up about their beliefs and make a difference in their school.
