Join us for Homecoming Weekend
on November 1-2!
We're celebrating this milestone school year with a weekend full of activities for past and present New City families, faculty, staff, and more!
Can't make it to Homecoming, but want to stay up to date with New City School? Update your contact information and we'll be sure to keep you in the know!
Friday, November 1st
Diversity Dinner & Dialogue: What Did You Learn at School Today?
Join former New City School faculty and administrators Tom Hoerr, Barbara Thomson, and Irving Rhodes for an in-depth discussion of 50 years of diversity, equity, and inclusion at New City School.
Saturday, November 2nd
Faculty & Staff Reunion Brunch
Calling all current and former New City School faculty and staff! Please join Betsy Blankenship and many others from our dedicated planning committee for a morning gathering to reminisce with old colleagues, get to know new faculty and staff, and celebrate 50 years of our shared New City experiences.
1-Mile Fun Walk/Run
Run, walk, or stroll around our very own Central West End neighborhood as we celebrate the area we've called home for the last 50 years! This casual 1-mile route starts at school, then heads down Westminster Place, and along Kingshighway before turning back down Waterman Blvd and passing New City School's first location at the First Unitarian Church. The walk will end at Ferring Field on the school grounds.
Outdoor performances, a petting zoo, and more—join us for this annual event! Take a picture in the Fisheye Fun photobooth, grab some lunch from the Pi Pizzeria food truck, or make your own s'mores as you catch up with friends and teachers, and get to know our fabulous current families.
Alumni Kickball Game
Compete with your fellow alumni in the showdown of the (half) century...the Alumni Kickball Game! Dust off your sneakers and come ready to play with (or cheer for!) your classmates, alongside team captains Lauren McKenna and Joe Corbett, in this tribute to our end-of-school tradition.
Monette Gooch-Smith Preprimary Playground Dedication
Join us as we recognize recently retired pre-primary teacher Monette Gooch-Smith's 36½ years at New City School with a plaque dedication and ceremony in her honor.
Reconnect with alumni and families from your decade! Catch up with some familiar faces in meet-ups throughout the building. Take this opportunity to visit your favorite classroom or walk the halls again. Light refreshments provided.
