Ride Finders: A Better Way to Carpool!

Again this year, New City will be participating in the SchoolPool carpooling program.  Through the RideFinders’ SchoolPool program, parents receive access to a free, secure online ride-matching service to form carpools, walking “school buses,” or bike “trains” to take students to and from school. You could pore through the buzz book to find who might live nearby, but RideFinders does the legwork for you!

RideFinders will provide you with a “matchlist” of other New City families who live near you; they will also send you an email with a username and temporary password so you can log in to your account to change your preferences (weekly schedule, whether you would rather drive, etc.). Children’s names and addresses will not appear on the matchlist; only parents’ names, zip codes, emails and phone numbers, and the children’s grades will be provided. It is then up to the parents to contact the other families on the matchlist to discuss carpooling options!

To assist parents with registering for this program, New City School will enter all parents in the ridematching service and send an e-mail with their matchlists.  If you wish to opt-out of the program and not have your information included in the service, you must notify us by August 31st.  To opt out (or if you have any questions), send an email to Lucie Garnett at lgarnett@newcityschool.org.

For more information on the program, or to look at their Frequently Asked Questions, you can go to http://ridefinders.org/pdf/spFAQfp.pdf

We hope you will choose to take advantage of the SchoolPool program, so we can help make New City and Saint Louis even more sustainable!

p.s. If you would like to become involved with the NCS Green Committee, send an email to Lucie Garnett (lgarnett@newcityschool.org) or Hilary Murphy (hilary.murphy@sbcglobal.net ).
