Meet the Staff: Claire Reinbold, Fourth Grade Teacher

What words best describe you?
Happy, active, and friendly.

How long have you been at New City School and what did you do before coming here?
This is my 15th year at NCS. NCS was my first “grown-up” job after college!

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I can be a sloth and a rabbit!  I love movies, but rarely sit still long enough these days to watch them.  I cannot remember a time when music was not running through my brain, but I don’t play anything.  I simply love listening and am pretty willing to catch a random show—it stems from my college radio days, I suppose.  I have to say, I find most of my happiest moments are outdoors.

What do you like to do when you're not at New City?
I am a big runner and cyclist and I am always up for some sort of wacky adventure.  I wish I made more time for reading and gardening, but that tends to be hard to do while biking.  Or running.

What did six-year-old Claire want to be when she grew up?
Combination ballerina-police officer-fire fighter.

What is your ideal vacation?
I always say I want to get to a beach, but I find myself drawn to the mountains time and time again.  Where ever I go, food and adventure are always a part of it.

What is something that most people don't know about you?
I don’t hide much (to a fault!), but I really love organizing things—particularly closets.  I thought it could be my summer job…And I sometimes wish I was a writer for SNL, although not everyone thinks I am as funny as I do.

What else do you want people to know?
Overall, I am a firm believer that people are good and life is pretty dang amazing.  You just need to make sure you are looking at the right things.
