Fourth Graders Help Out at St. Louis World Food Day

This past Friday, the fourth graders took place in St. Louis World Food Day, assembling 249,912 rice/soy meals, which will be sent to a children's school program in Tanzania. Students measured, weighed, sealed, and packed the nutritionally balanced food packets, which contained soy protein, rice, dried vegetables, and a fortified seasoning packet. World Food Day is a worldwide event designed to increase awareness, understanding and informed year-round action to alleviate hunger. It is observed every October in recognition of the establishment of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945. This week from Monday through Thursday, fourth grade will be raising money to help fund their participation in this event with the annual Fourth Grade Rummage Sale. Sale times are: 

3:15 to 3:45 p.m. - Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
8:00 to 8:30 a.m. - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
