Overview

Our Family Support Program plays a very important role at New City School. The coverage that is provided -- Early Care (before school), Extended Day (after school), child care for parent/teacher conferences, No School At School (NSAS), Winter Break Camp, Spring Break Camp and Summer Camp -- makes it possible for many of our families to attend NCS. Thanks to our staff, our children enjoy being here early or late (and sometimes both)! Our job is to be sure that your child is engaged, safe, and happy.

At New City School we recognize that an 8:30-3:30 day is inconvenient for many families. Therefore, care is provided starting at 7:00 a.m. and continues after school until 6:00 p.m.

During the Early Care time, students meet with staff for a social/recess time before the start of the school day. This gives families the flexibility needed for varied drop-off times in the morning. There is no charge for this coverage.

Whether you need full-time after-care or just a day here or there, New City School Extended Day can meet your needs. Our regular Extended Day program includes snack, recess, study hall, and planned activities in a low-key, but structured environment. In addition, talents classes are offered during this time. This after-school time gives our students the opportunity to try new things, express their creativity, work for an important cause and to exercise all of their multiple intelligences.

Another important aspect of the Family Support Program is the inclusion of the No School At School Program (NSAS), Winter Break Camp, and Spring Break Camp. These programs provide coverage for days when the school is closed for parent/teacher conferences, teacher in-service days and the Winter and Spring breaks. Varied field trips, special guests such as storytellers, artists, singers/musicians, and themed days make these times full of fun and learning. Families can sign up for any or all of these special days.
