Congratulations on making one of the most important steps in your child's education!
The application process typically begins in the fall prior to the year you are interested in admittance for your child. Listed below are necessary steps in order to begin the process.
This information should answer some frequently asked questions, and provide some important dates throughout the process as well.
Step 1: Attend a private or group tour with the Director of Admission and Financial Aid. The school tour is a required part of the admission process. The tour allows you to understand the school philosophy and mission, ask questions, and tour the facility. Private tours are scheduled by appointment at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can sign up for a group tour by clicking here. If you are interested in preprimary or kindergarten, please sign-up for the Tuesday morning group tour, and if you are interested in grades 1-6, sign-up for the Thursday afternoon tour.
Step 2: Complete and submit your application along with the $100 non-refundable application fee. Applications are due no later than February 1, 2019, and should be sent to the attention of Melanie Harmon at New City School. Please be sure to fill out the release form along with your application. We will request records from your child’s current school. We also ask that you provide a copy of any school records, from the previous school year, that you may have along with the application. That includes report cards and any standardized testing.
Step 3: If you are interested in applying for a Financial Aid, you will be required to complete an Intent to Apply for Scholarship Form, and fill out the online application with FACTS. The Intent to Apply form will mailed to you upon receipt of your admissions application. Along with your online application with FACTS, you will submit your 2018 completed taxes and W2s, on or after November 1, 2018. You must complete the online Facts application by February 1, 2019.
Step 4: We require all applicants visit the school for an assessment. Preprimary and kindergarten applicants, who have applied by February 1st, are assessed on the dates listed below. You will receive notification about the assessment, including the date and time for which they are scheduled to attend in January. First grade applicants will visit for one school day and applicants for grades 2-6 are required to visit for up to two full school days. All school-aged visits will be scheduled by the admissions office after an application is submitted and student records have been received.
