About the Delano Gallery

The Evan Delano Gallery, located outside the MI library at New City School, provides students and families with engaging opportunities to explore, experience and display art.  


Featured Exhibit: "The Invisible Made Visible: 15 Works of Felted Art by Dahven White" 

Fiber artist and New City School parent Dahven White shared her works of felted art with the New City School community.


Past Art Exhibits

  • Dear Tom- Each grade level at NCS created art to honor our retiring head of school, Tom Hoerr
  • Dimensions- Students were invited to create dimensional art work
  • Mural Project Display- Our 4th graders helped design and paint our playground mural and this show highlighted their efforts
  • Community Art Exhibit- Our NCS community artists (parents, teachers, grandparents, aunts, neighbors, etc) were invited to share their art
  • Full Steam Ahead- Students were invited to create work inspired by the science and art connection (STEM)
  • Portraits By the Masters- Using art posters from the Picturing America series, on display were well known portraits
  • AlphaART- Students were invited to select a letter or letters of the Alphabet to present in their art 
  • The Power of One- Students were invited to create a self-portrait using discarded and recycled materials
  • Sew Loved- Students were invited to design and create soft sculpture or textile art
  • Family Favorites- Families were invited to share one piece of "art" from their personal art collection at home
  • NCS Alumni Art Show- NCS Alumni students and families were invited to share their art with our community
  • Visions of True Colors-  Nigerian artist, Ibiyinka Alao, (who travels the world as an art ambassador sponsored by the United Nations) displayed his paintings and held workshops with some of our grade levels
