CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Capital campaigns occur every five to seven years at independent schools.  Contributions to capital campaigns support extraordinary expenditures such as additions or renovations to facilities or the purchase of land.  Gifts to capital campaigns are usually made in three to five year pledges, and are in addition to annual giving and other contributions.

The most recent capital campaign at New City School was "The Next Chapter" Campaign which raised nearly $2,000,000 to build a new dining hall (opened in September of 2005) and library (opened in December of 2005) and add an elevator in the building.  In addition to capital funds, "The Next Chapter" Campaign raised more than $1,000,000 for financial aid endowment.

Current parents, grandparents, parents of alumni, friends, neighbors, and a number of local charitable foundations, including the Dana Brown Charitable Trust and the William T. Kemper Foundation supported our efforts.  The Saigh Foundation provided support for programming in the new library.
