ADMISSIONS PROCESS
Step 1:
Attend a private or group tour with the Director of Admissions. The shool tour is required and allows you to understand the school philosophy and mission, learn more about New City, and ask important questions. Private tours are scheduled by appointment at
admissions@newcityschool.org. Group tours take place on Tuesdays at 9 am for those interested in preprimary, and Thursdays at 1 pm for kindergarten through Grade 6.
Step 2:
CLICK HERE to download and print an application. Applications are due by February 1st and should be sent to the attention of Melanie Harmon at New City School. In addition, fill out the release form and return it along with your application. This will allow us to request records from your child's current school.
Step 3:
If you are interested in applying for a Need-Based Scholarship you will be required to complete an
Intent to Apply for Scholarship form
and submit it to New City School. Please contact the school to obtain this document. In addition to this form, you will also need to submit an application to F.A.C.T.S. Please visit
www.factstuitionaid.com to fill out the necessary documentation and to submit your 2012 taxes.
Step 4:
We require that all applicants go through an assessment process as part of their admission decision. If you are applying for preprimary and kindergarten, and do so before February 1st, you will receive a letter indicating the date and time in which your child's visit has been scheduled. The assessment dates are Saturday, February 2, and Saturday, February 9.
If you are applying for Grades 1-6, we require your child visit for up to two full school days. All school-aged visits will be scheduled by the admission office after all student records have been received.
Important Dates:
November 10, 2012... Open House for Prospective Families, 9:30 am - noon
January 17, 2013... Admissions Evening for Families of Color 6-8 pm
February 1, 2013... Deadline for admission and scholarship applications
February 2, 2013... Assessment visit for preprimary and kindergarten applicants
February 9, 2013... Assessment visit for preprimary and kindergarten applicants
March 14, 2013... Admission notification mailed
After the February 1st deadline, please contact the Admissions Office to schedule a tour or apply for admission. Acceptance decisions after this date are based on space availability and are made within two weeks of the child's assessment visit.
Financial Aid Deadlines
January 15, 2013… Deadline for F.A.C.T.S. Financial Aid form; completed online at
www.factstuitionaid.com.
February 1, 2013… Deadline for
Intent to Apply Scholarship form to be returned to New City School.
